The idea was simply to combine a digital product, maps, with a "transportation net", the internet. Netmaps' database has been created on digital formats, mainly macromedia freehand (eps) and adobe illustrator (ai), which makes it easy to adapt to the new standards . Those formats allows the direct exportation to more than 30 formats, such as .dxf, .corel, .eps...., or raster/closed formats like .jpg, .bmp, .tiff...., including georeferenced such as .ozi for logistics or location applications.
